> What are the steps required to update the liberies /usr/lib

Hard way: Download the source code for the libraries, compile them and
install them and run 'ldconfig' Easier way: Download the RPM/DEB of the
library and use your package installing tool to install them.

> And How do i upgate my kernel and recreate the links to the liberies

Upgrading kernel:

(a) Easy way: Download the RPM / DEB of the image and install it.
(b) Hard way: Download the source (on install the srpm), untar it, read the
README and follow directions.

Recreating links to libs:

When you compile from source and run 'make install' the links (I am
assuming you are talking about the sym links that get created) will get
created. Same happens when you install from an RPM/DEB.
