I just checked it out, copied the whole win95 installation(34mb) to a samba
share and
got it back to another machine copying up took 5 minutes and 52 seconds and
copying down took 1 minute 38 seconds.
We are using this linux as a print spooler too, ie three of the win 95 on
the lan are
having printers connected and shared with password, which are added to the
printcap and shared through the smbd. One terminal involves heavy printing
on
laser and dj500 both, the laser is the local printer there and the dj is
through smb.
Docs from corel is avg of 10-12 pages, and docs from word is avg 100 to 120
pages
which are going in and out very smoothly.

pls note, this machine has no unwanted services for this use (httpd, popd,
telnet, finger, nfs, named, nwe, atd, apmd, gpm, ttfd etc) and the virtual
terminals are cut down to two, in the inittab. does that make it clear ?
