Hello list, I've just installed Linux on my pentium.. and it works great :-) I'm just basically learning more about the OS and other stuff with it.. I also have a 486, which I would like to connect to my new system.. Now, I'm doing this only to learn more about networking... I don't want to spend much on this and so I guess I don't want to by an ethernet card.. Can I use a serial cable through my printer ports ? Linux -> Windows ? Also, how long can the cable be ? Will 15-16metres be too long ? Also, I would like to run a few windows appl. in Linux... have heard of Vmware... but is there anything *free* ?
