Hi!  ,

assuming u have an ethernet n/w (if token ring then u have a bit of
problem),
try to run linuxconf enter basic info for your interface eth0 like
hostname,dns,dhcp,
default gateway,.........blah,blah,blah.save your configuration.type these
command

# ifconfig eth0  up

this should work,& if u r planning to access n/w nieghbourhood from windoze
m/c
then only configure SAMBA .....
