better refer to the manuals, u have nothing to configure,
use smbclient -L <windows_machine_name|win_machine_ip>
to enable windows machines to permit access from linux,
those machines should have tcp/ip configured and file sharing
should be bound to tcp/ip.

to permit windows machines to log on to linux and to use
shares and resources on linux, then u need to start smb service
on ur machine, u can configure that using linuxconf, which will
provide you with a great gui (explorerlike) interface for configuring
most of linux services.  Then u choose the text mode config tool
and put a (*) on smb.
