Tell me if the card is a pci or a isa card.
If it is a pci then issue the following command
#modporbe -s ne.o
the system will automatically get the eth0 up
and give u messages about the hardware address etc
etc.
then what u do is run linuxconf in that
config,networking,client tasks,basic host info
enter on that, and configure the card so that it is
automatically brought up when u reboot.
If it is a isa card then first try to find the base
i/o address and the irq the card uses and issue the
commads
# modprobe -s ne.o "io=0x(whatever the add)"
"irq="whatever" <enter>
then it will recognise the card and next u can go
along with the linuxconf.
Also u can edit the files "/etc/conf.modules" and
"/etc/sysconfig/network" for additional network
parameters.

Best of Luck
