Anybody that have any hints for this fellow. He might not be on the
mailing-list, so any replies should probably be sent directly to his
address (and not to me ;-)

Subject: IrDA on Tecra 8000

Hello,

A report on some success (and failure):

I recently (a couple of days ago) downloaded the IrDA patch and
the utils, compiled them with 2.2.9 kernel and ran it on my
Toshiba Tecra 8000. The toshoboe seems to work fine, it finds the
chip and when I run irmanager it does discover my Ericsson
SH 888 phone (sorry, I have no other ir-aware hardware except
for a bunch of remote controls). Looking at /proc/net/irda/discovery
it correctly identifies the phone, and the hint suggests IrCOMM,
which seems reasonable.

The chip in the computer is the Toshiba FIR, identified by
lspci -n as 1179:0701.

However, from this point on, I am completely stumped. I have spent
a couple of days to figure out how to contact my phone using
minicom (i.e. getting the right protocols and devices in place),
but with no result.

If you have any suggestions, I would be grateful.

I hope this information is useful to you, and if I can assist with any
further tests or send logs/printouts, please contact me.
