Are you using the kernels shipped by redhat? I highly recommend that you
download the latest 2.2.10 kernel and recompile it with IrDA support. I
really don't know if the RedHat shipped kernels have IrDA enabled since
IrDA was still an experimental feature when those kernels was shipped. I'm
pretty sure IrDA is disabled for those kernels.

But anyway, Linux-IrDA has changed a lot since 2.2.5 so if you have
problems, I don't really know what you are talking about. I'm definitively
not going to hunt for bugs until you can confirm that 2.2.10 have similar
problems ;-)

PS. Try to write down the current kernel config (sound) ete etc, so you
know which features to enable when building the new kernel.
