Im a newbie whos been spending the last 3 months building an irda dongle from scratch. Conceptually it looks like irda <--> 3/16 <---> rs232 driver <--> serial port xcvier codec I mimicked the functionality of hp's hsdl 7000 for the 3/16 codec and a 115 kbps irda transceiver. Now if I want this device to run under linux-irda , what else should I do? I could do the framing/CRC check/bit-stuffing in hardware (which would add to the complexity) but I prefer to do it in software. Assuming that I have coded the said functions (crc check etc..) how do I incorporate my device so that it would be used by the irda protocol stack. Or in other words, how do I make the linux-irda protocol stack work on my device? I know it sounds dumb but help would be much appreciated.
