You are doing everything correct.. as you see on the last line in the kernel log you
show, you already have irda0 device registered.. which means, your IrDA is up and
running..
Try put a palmpilot or a cellphone, or some other IrDA device, infront of the port..
and check /proc/sys/net/irda/discovery
It should show you a line with the device..
Now you load the ircomm and ircomm-tty modules (If you didn't have them before)
and create the ircomm0 device 161,0 if I remember correctly, there should be better
info in the mailing list archive..
then you point for an example ppp to use /dev/ircomm0 and tada.. you are talking to
your cellphone/Palm Pilot..
