Hi,
before resorting to mailing this list, I have read
all the documentation I could find. What happened, is
that when I had installed RH6.0 on my laptop, with
the defualt kernel and setup, everything worked
fine. On my laptop, the infrared port is attached
to /dev/ttyS1, therefore an 'irattach /dev/ttyS1'
enabled terminal communication through /dev/irnine.
I have not been using the infrared port for a long time,
and now, with RH7.0, kernel 2.2.17-14, irda utils 0.9.10,
I cannot seem to get it to work anymore. I have followed
the irnine => ircomm transition, as well as the '_' to
'-' change in ircomm-tty.
My /etc/modules conf reads:
alias tty-ldisc-11 irtty
alias char-major-161 ircomm-tty
My /dev/ircomm? devices are all set to the proper
major and minor chars, as from HOWTOs (160, 0-1 etc.)
My /etc/irda/drivers shows an 'irattach /dev/ttyS1'
on the start section.
When I type 'irattach /dev/ttyS1', I am supposed to
get terminal access to the port via /dev/ircomm0,
right? All the module stack seems to load alright:
ircomm-tty, ircomm, irtty, irda.
Is there anything wrong with this? All I want is to talk
to my cellphone via the infrared port. Assuming I have
the proper devices, and /etc/modules conf is properly
configured, an irattach /dev/ttyS1 should do, right?
If the problem seems to be elsewhere, I will post
more complete descriptions of logs and kernel
messages.
Thanks in advance.
