i've got a sony vaio Z505R, findchip reports:
Found SMC FDC37N958FR Controller at 0x370, DevID=0x01, Rev. 1
SIR Base 0x220, FIR Base 0x138
IRQ = 10, DMA = 1
Enabled: yes, Suspended: no
UART compatible: yes
Half duplex delay = 3 us
i disable both detected tty ports with
setserial /dev/ttyS0 uart none irq 0 port 0
setserial /dev/ttyS2 uart none irq 0 port 0
after that i try modprobe smc-ircc
at which point it prints out aline showing some of the info that findchip
reports... says that it has registered irda0 and then proceeds to hang..
this happens every time.. even if i change the ir port settings in the
laptop bios..
i'm desperately trying to get my Nokia 8290's to function as a modem via ir
with my laptop...
PLEASE help :)
and could you reply to my address instead of the list? i only get digests..
