Hi all,

Im trying to get my ir port working on my linux laptop (Sharp A500) and point
to a palm iiixe

I have a fresh install of RH7.1 with the source of irda-utils-0.9.14.tar.gz
compiled and installed

A findchip -dv reports
Found NSC PC87338 Controller at 0x398, DevID=0x0b, Rev.2
 SIR Base 0x2f8, FIR Base 0x2f8
 IRQ=3, DMA=1
 Enabled=yes, Suspended:no
 UART compatible:yes
 Half duplex delay = 0 us

In my /etc/modules.conf

alias tty-1disc-11 irtty
alias char-major-161 ircomm-tty
alias char-major-10-187 irnet

alias irda0 nsc-ircc
options nsc-ircc

then i try running (as root)
irattach irda0 -s 1

After doing this i dont see any modules show up in lsmod...

But if i try to use SIR mode ( i think)
irattach /dev/ttyS1 -s 1

i see irtty and irda show up in lsmod.. then i can do a irdadump but i only
seem to get it send info (ie: > ffffffff S=6 s=0 (14))

Id rather use the nsc driver because its supposed to be faster, but i really
cant either to work... any ideas?

mn
