I am trying to use linux irda with a transfer with no echo
cancellation. For this reason I'm using irport. I'm using Debian 2.2
distribution with kernel 2.2.17. The steps I've taken are as follows:

-remove the serial driver from the port using setserial
-insmod irda
-insmod irport io=0x3f8 irq=4
-insmod ircomm
-insmod ircomm-tty
-mknod /dev/ircomm0 c 161 0

I can bring up irda0 with ifconfig and watch as packets enter and exit.
I can see my Palm PDA being discovered in the /proc/net/irda/discovery
file. But I can't get anything out of /dev/ircomm0.

I am unsure if I need to apply any patches or where to get them from,
and I'm unsure exactly how I should be using irmanager and irattach.

My goal is to run ppp over ircomm.

Any help/instructions (or directions to them) to help my out would be
greatly appreciated.
