I have an Actisys 2000U dongle, and I'm trying to use it with my Nokia
8210. It works briefly, but after a few characters have been sent each
way, it dies and I have to reload the irda-usb module before it will do
anything else.

# /usr/sbin/irattach irda0 -s 1

Jun 14 17:36:19 echinda irattach: executing: '/sbin/modprobe irda0'
Jun 14 17:36:19 echinda irattach: executing: 'echo 1 >
/proc/sys/net/irda/discovery'
Jun 14 17:36:19 echinda irattach: Starting device irda0
Jun 14 17:36:19 echinda irattach: executing: 'echo echinda >
/proc/sys/net/irda/devname'

I then load up minicom, or try to use the link in some other way.
Usually the first one or two AT commands sent to the phone work, albeit
it slowly. Then it hangs and I get:

Jun 14 17:41:27 echinda kernel: IrLAP, no activity on link!

After that, I can't do anything until I reload the module.

Any hints on how to debug this further? I'm using the driver as
included in kernel 2.4.5.

Thanks,

Paul
