Hello,

I wrote a message a view days ago about crashes I encountered
when using a new 2.4.14 kernel. My system froze completely
when the connection over my mobile was disconnected. Now
I did some more checks and found that the same occurs
in the kernels 2.4.9 and 2.4.10. I will yet have to find the
last kernel IrDA works for me (before I had 2.4.5 which worked
but I deleted the code and the kernel before I found the 'new
feature'). Only then I can be 100% sure that the crashes are caused
by the IrDA-code and not by the hardware or a misconfiguration.

Yesterday I applied the patches that were posted on this list
and compiled a new kernel. First my computer failed to
connect over my mobile which always happens at times and might be
due to the poor service of my mobile provider. The computer
did not hang and I was happy. My next try to collect my
e-mail worked but the system froze on hang-up... :(
pppd could just log the number of bytes that were sent and
received, then all was over...

My computer is a Fujitsu-Siemens Lifebook E-6550, the system
around the kernel consists of a Redhat 7.1 distribution. Need-
less to say that the kernel source was a pristine kernel from
kernel.org...

I can't resist to add that with all the other bugs in 2.4.14 I will
probably change back to 2.4.5 if a 2.4.15 that matches previous
standards (2.2 series) isn't there soon. I even know somebody that
changed back to 2.2... :(

Still, I appreciate the work you all do!
