Hi! I am having trouble getting IrDA to work on a Dell Inspiron 4000 notebook.
The problem is: Whenever a driver for the sound card is loaded (either OSS or ALSA), IrDA is completely lost. This is to an extent that no IR can be detected from the output window. If I don't load any sound driver, the IrDA connection seems to work well. By the way, the chipset reported values for DMA change if I load it after loading the sound modules (but even if I load the smc-ircc module before loading the sound modules IrDA stops working as soon as I load them). I don't know if this is a known problem, so I am posting this to the list. If there is anything else I can do, just tell me! Bye & Good Luck! Pablo B.
