Oh, I forgot to mention that I had applied these patches (you posted
them both on this list and on linux-kernel, didn't you?) and it didn't
change the behaviour. That's why I wonder why 2.4.15 and 2.4.16 do not
crash. But better not ask... ;)

Currently I have 2.4.16 running and haven't seen any problems so far.
