Hi
On the mobilix.org irda status page (http://mobilix.org/ir_misc.html), it
says this about smc-ircc:
#########
SMC IrCC;
broken, needs to be ported to the new architecture;
FIR;
SMSC SMC IRCC 2.0 supports consumer IR .. namely RC-5, RC-6, RC-MM, and some
proprietary protocols;
#########
i've tried to use this module with my laptop, Compaq evo N150 (see bottom),
which has a fdc37n3869(-md) io controller. the closest match that appears
to be supported (am i wrong?) is the fdc37n869, which is its predecessor
according to the smc website.
Is this what it means by "ported to the new architecture"? or does that
reffer to the irda subsytem architecture?

so..
1. if smc-ircc is supposed to work with my chip, it apparantly dosent :-(
2. if it is still broken, is anyone fixing or planning on fixing it?
3. if the ans to 2 is no, then what do i need to know about the irda subsys
and where do i find the appropriate info i need to have a go at fixing it?

Regards,
        Jeff Snyder
