Try the gnokii package. http://www.gnokii.org/ i believe. The fact that you got (what seemed) correct output from Linux IrCOMM in 2.2.17 is just a coincidence, because Nokia 6110 doesn't do IrDA as you correctly state. The fact that you don't get the same output from Linux IrCOMM in 2.4.13 is good, this means that the Linux IrDA code in 2.4.13 is of higher quality than the one in 2.2.17. Some people might think that this is just lameass programmer bullshit, coming from ignorant programmers that don't appreciate the ability to actually use the software, rather than sit and look at it. However, what is important to remember is that it isn't supposed to be possible to use the two softwares (6110 and Linux) in the way that you've done with 2.2.17 and therefore there is no way of knowing how to make a software do so correctly, without causing e.g. data loss (phonebook entries disappearing in the 6110, harddisk gets wrecked by Linux, etc.) or other unwanted behaviour. I don't know for a fact that either of these things will happen, but I don't know for a fact that they won't. And I wouldn't take the risk. Anything is possible since there is no protocol or ruleset provided for communication between 6110 and Linux. The programmer wants to produce quality code, quality systems, things that don't break, things that just work. But it takes some time. And when the working things are all done, good user interfaces can be made without hassle. But that's another science all together. :) //Peter -- irc: CareBear\ irl: Peter Stuge _______________________________________________ Linux-IrDA mailing list - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.pasta.cs.UiT.No/mailman/listinfo/linux-irda
