Just a quick note of *THANKS* to Pablo Bianucci for his tips on getting
Ir and the Maestro3 working :-)

After many weeks (on and off) of trying to get it working I found this
note in the archives and now have a reliable Ir connection to my Palm.

My system is Kernel 2.4.17 with Gnome desktop (gnome-pilot 0.1.64-1 and
gnome-pilot-conduits 0.8-2).

This fix works equally well for ALSA and the kernel driver (mainly
    because they
    share a common origin).

First, find the file drivers/sound/maestro3.c for the kernel,
    cards/card-maestro3.c for ALSA.

Then, comment out the line that says

     dir |= 0x10; /* assuming pci bus master? */

And then, recompile, install the module on its proper location and
    reboot.
