After wondering what's happening, I did a few tests with PPP
over IrComm. I found some intermittent problems with heavy bulk
transfer. I've made a patch that fixes all IrComm problem I had. It is

For your second problem, it looks like it's the higher layer
of Linux that stop sending data (so problem on Linux's
side). Unfortunately, the irdadump you have doen't look like the
problem I had, but it could be two manifestations of the same problem.
Could you try the patch on 2.2.18 and report ?
