I had the same problem. This module needs to be told where FIR and SIR
ioports are. Then it is able do probe dma and irq. It's quite weird. I've
not had time to look at the code so far. It also seems that this module
doesn't drive FIR mode correctly. But I neither have had a chance to test
with a FIR device nor, as I wrote, to peek into the code. For smc docs you
can have a look at smc web site. There you can find pdf's of their ircc
chips.Maybe in the next days I'll have some time to look at the code but as all my
IR devices work at SIR speeds, this is not a priority for me.
