Hi people, I have a Libretto 70CT and a Satellite S1800-814 and I'm trying to set up IrDA communication on both machines.
(Actually, i don't want them to talk to each other particularly, but I'd like them both to be able to use my Nokia 6210) The trouble is, I'm a bit vague on exactly what I need to do, and spending hours searching the net hasn't really helped. Both machines are running SuSE 7.3 (2.4.10-4GB) and I've installed the irda tools. For both machines I load the modules with insmod insmod irda insmod irtty insmod ircomm-tty insmod ircomm which doesn't cause any problems, and then irattach /dev/ttyS1 -s which leaves the following in /var/log/messages May 14 11:57:33 linux kernel: IrCOMM protocol (Dag Brattli) May 14 11:57:47 linux kernel: IrDA: Registered device irda0 May 14 11:57:48 linux irattach: executing: 'echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/irda/discovery' May 14 11:57:48 linux irattach: Starting device irda0 May 14 11:57:48 linux irattach: executing: 'echo linux > /proc/sys/net/irda/devname' With the Libretto, irdadump shows the device broadcasting, but with the Satellite I see 11:57:58.295847 xid:cmd 76cc3ca9 > ffffffff S=6 s=0 (14) 11:57:58.335835 xid:cmd ffffffff < 76cc3ca9 S=6 s=0 (14) 11:57:58.385859 xid:cmd 76cc3ca9 > ffffffff S=6 s=1 (14) 11:57:58.425828 xid:cmd ffffffff < 76cc3ca9 S=6 s=1 (14) 11:57:58.475859 xid:cmd 76cc3ca9 > ffffffff S=6 s=2 (14) 11:57:58.515828 xid:cmd ffffffff < 76cc3ca9 S=6 s=2 (14) 11:57:58.565859 xid:cmd 76cc3ca9 > ffffffff S=6 s=3 (14) 11:57:58.605826 xid:cmd ffffffff < 76cc3ca9 S=6 s=3 (14) 11:57:58.655859 xid:cmd 76cc3ca9 > ffffffff S=6 s=4 (14) 11:57:58.695826 xid:cmd ffffffff < 76cc3ca9 S=6 s=4 (14) 11:57:58.745859 xid:cmd 76cc3ca9 > ffffffff S=6 s=5 (14) 11:57:58.785827 xid:cmd ffffffff < 76cc3ca9 S=6 s=5 (14) 11:57:58.835861 xid:cmd 76cc3ca9 > ffffffff S=6 s=* linux hint=0400 [ Computer ] (21) 11:57:58.875828 xid:cmd ffffffff < 76cc3ca9 S=6 s=* linux hint=0400 [ Computer ] (21) Which seems odd. Or maybe this is right, and the Libretto is wrong. (The Libretto shows the outbound stuff, but nothing coming back) In any case, neither machine seems to register the existence of the other, and neither of them react to the Nokia. Can anybody help??! TIA! sjb _______________________________________________ Linux-IrDA mailing list - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.pasta.cs.UiT.No/mailman/listinfo/linux-irda
