Thanks for you answer. I am not terribly GSM-knowledgeable...however...I used
to have a GH388 and an external modem to connect to my Palm. For using
that, I did not need any specific subscriptions so I assumed that it wasn't
necessary now with the SH888. However that was in Denmark. I've changed country
since (some would call that an upgrade...), and didn't think of ordering any
data-options with my new subscription.

However, perhaps someone can tell me what such a data option really _is_. In
Denmark (by the company "Sonofon" if anyone knows it), the data-option simply
meant that they provided dial-in as any other ISP. If I had an existing ISP,
there was no need for the data-option (so the nice phone-support told me - and
it worked). Is it possible for the phone company to require a special
subscription/option (probably one which implies some unreasonable fee) for
letting my computer key in the number over IrDA - contrary to doing it myself
using the keypad? To me, it would seem that the phone-company couldn't (and
shouldn't) care either way....connections are connections, traffic is traffic.
Or am I completely mistaken?

I might try and call the phone company tomorrow to ask - however I am sure
their answer will reflect their urgent desire to earn more money. So if anyone
knows anything that can enlighten me, please let me know.

Thanks in advance
