Hi all,
First of all, apologies for asking questions again - but I am in need
of a piece of help.
I recently got IrDA running with my Ericsson SH888 - as you may
remember - but decided recently to upgrade to the latest and greates
2.2-kernel with the latest and greatest irda-patch.
Thus I got the 2.2.13 kernel source and the patch
'patch-2.2.13-irda6', which I applied with no apparent problems.
Compiled with what I read at
http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/IR-HOWTO.html as being required - in
particular with all the IrDA stuff as modules.
Checked for devices in /dev:
laptoy:~# ls -l /dev/ir*
crw-rw-rw- 1 roott root 161, 0 Nov 15 02:29 /dev/ircomm0
crw-r--r-- 1 roott root 161, 1 Nov 24 02:13 /dev/ircomm1
crw-r--r-- 1 roott root 161, 16 Nov 24 02:13 /dev/irlpt0
crw-r--r-- 1 roott root 161, 17 Nov 24 02:14 /dev/irlpt1
Checked for conf.modules:
laptoy:~# cat /etc/conf.modules
# IrDA
alias tty-ldisc-11 irtty
alias char-major-161 ircomm-tty
Checking which port is the IrDA-one (except from dmesg):
>Serial driver version 4.27 with no serial options enabled
>ttyS00 at 0x03f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A
>ttyS01 at 0x02f8 (irq = 3) is a 16550A
(The first is the ordinary serial one)
Checked that /etc/irda/drivers (snipped most comments):
laptoy:~# cat /etc/irda/drivers
#! /bin/sh
action=$1
device=$2
case "${action:?}" in
'start')
irattach /dev/ttyS01 # The second serial port is an
# IrDA port
;;
'stop')
killall irattach # ... or something. Currently not used
;;
'restart')
/sbin/ifconfig ${device:?} down up
;;
esac
Rebooted with the new kernel, checked that everything else works,
then I try:
laptoy:~# irmanager -d1
And get this in /var/adm/messages:
Nov 24 05:54:19 laptoy irmanager: Serial connection established.
Nov 24 05:54:19 laptoy irmanager: executing: 'echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/irda/discovery'
Nov 24 05:54:19 laptoy irmanager: executing: 'echo laptoy > /proc/sys/net/irda/devname'
Nov 24 05:54:20 laptoy irmanager: + 1.1 Tue Nov 9 15:30:55 1999 Dag Brattli
Nov 24 05:54:20 laptoy irmanager: + 1.1 Tue Nov 9 15:30:55 1999 Dag Brattli
- and then nothing more. ifconfig reports no irda0-running.
I should mention, that I am using irda-utils-0.9.5 and the latest
net-tools with irda support enabled.
What am I missing out here?
Thanks in advance for your help.
