I tried this for a while, but couldn't make it work. I asked the local
technician (knows everything), and he said I had to reply with
"CLIENTSERVER" to make it work. So when I tried:

pppd ircomm0 115200 connect '/usr/sbin/chat "CLIENT" "CLIENTSERVER"'

... then it connected on the first try.
