The infrared port is working (e.g., i can communicate with a
pilot). Actually in the meantime i did some further experiments.
I realized this morning (admittedly somewhat late :-) that it might be a
clever idea to test the printer also under W98. There i discovered that
printing appearantly only works then the printer is turned on with actived
IR on the laptop. Then, once in several trials i finaly managed to print a
page. It seems that the connection to the printer is extremely unstable;
most of the times i get immediatly "IrLAP, no activity on link! " but once
it connected and printed. Btu printing getting slower and slower (e.g
constantly losing the connection) and the connection was lost before
printing (of a single page) was finished. Following the syslog output
