If you don't mind hogging some CPU, 16550s can run
(legitimately) at speeds much higher than the 1.4MHz
clock or whatever, I seem to remember a set of cards
I had with 20MHz clocks on them. 

An other option is underclock an NS8390 (ethernet) 
chip and hang your hardware of the AUI port (Get an
old NE1K or NE2K and change the crystal it did this
with an X-band Microwave system, and you get free
manchester encoding toboot). Of course you wouldn't 
have IrPHY then, but I doubtyour device will be anyway?

I can't see much hope on the parallel port as you're
going to need FIFOS to do any serious data transfer rate
in and out and so you'll need to so the whole framing
and de-framing youself which is going to be more than
10 cheap CMOS chips.
