Hi,
i have discovered a couple of strange things going on i thing the cause
or bug is in the kernel namely the serial driver.

The problem is that to access my onboard IRDA (Thinkpad 390E) with FIR
i need to free the resources with the serial driver. To do so i initiate
a

setserial /dev/ttyS1 uart none port 0x0 irq 0

Then i load the FIR driver (ncs-ircc) which works flawlessly.

After the IRDA initialisation the pcmcia cardservices come along and
load serial_cs.o for the modem on the PCMCIA card. This modem takes
new resources which are ok, but reuses /dev/ttyS1.

Due to this the device stays dead. When i do NOT free the resources
with the setserial driver and dont load the IRDA modules everything
works ok as the serial_cs.o takes /dev/ttyS2.

I thgink there is a bug in the line discipline table cleanup etc when
freeing the resources with the setserial - Did anyone else discover
those things ?
