Dear all,
I'm having some problems in using my Motorola timeport (L7089 I guess) mobile
phone using IrDA. My impression is that it is not directly related to the
Linux IrDA implementation because I didn't get it to work under windoz either,
but someone may be able to help.
After some silly and less silly problems, such as that I needed to turn
flow-control off in minicom, I manager to set up my Libretto 50ct (which does
not seem to have the toshihoe chip but uses a serial port). Using minicom I
can give AT commands to the phone (ATZ, AT+CBST..) and the phone answers
correctly.
However if I try to call into my ISP (ATD+31205303200) nothing seems to happen
anymore:
- the telephone does not go offhook, and does not seem to be in any real
radio communication. Normally interference shows up on my computer
monitor when making calls.
- When I try to cancel the call the command (^C, other chars, or using +++)
the telephone does not return to command mode.
Characters I type are echo'ed back to my computer, as indicated that the
echo'ing does not take place when I break the infrared link temporarily.
- If I try to make a plain phone call my mobile phone will show a "Busy,
Try Later.." on the display.
- Even if I break the infrared link and the mobile phone indicates a
"Connection lost", the phone remains in busy mode. Only turning it on
and off will solve this.
I did try combinations of AT+CBST=.. commands, including 14,0,1 75,0,1 and
7,0,1. However, although the help file on the phone (as included in the
StarFish software) indicates a possible setting of 7,0,0 this is not a
valid input. Non-transparent mode seems to be not supported for the phone.
The strange thing is that other AT commands work well and that I can instruct
the phone to initiate a voice call, eg.: ATD+31205303200;
Where the phone comes back to command mode and the phone starts ringing the
phone number as a voice number as indicated by the semi-colon.
I'm at a loss right now, maybe my mobile telephone company did not correctly
enable data? Do I have a broken support for data in my L7089? Is my ISP to
blame?...
I'm bouncing off different helpdesk who have no clue. It took me a few minuts
to explain my telephone company that there is a difference between having a
communication link between my computer and the phone or with my computer and
the ISP. Let alone that they knew the concept of AT commands.
Anyone with ideas for me to try?
