Hello,

first, I want to apologize for that "e-mail flood" from my last message,
although I have no clue why it happened. I used pine to send it once,
same as always. Unless they had a misconfiguration at my University, or
else the list software messed up, I don't know what could have caused it.

I am still trying to track down problems with the irport.c driver.

[-----------------]

One time in 100 one side of the attempted connection will panic and lock
[and I have no serial ports or parallel port to capture it with].

[-----------------]

One time in 100 a connection will be made [with pppd over ircomm] and I
can telnet between the two computers for a few minutes, but then the
connection will drop with "IrLAP, no activity on link!" errors on both
sides.

While going, the connection is extremely lagged.

[-----------------]

The rest of the time no connection can be obtained, and both machines will
be stuck in the following endless cycle:

Machine 1:

    xid:cmd ffffffff < b01b3d42  s=6 s=* surfpad hint=8404 [Computer IrCOMM] (24)

irlap_state_ndm(), media busy

    snrm:cmd ca=fe pf=1 1396e07e < b01b3d42 new_ca=fa (32)
    ua:rsp   ca=fa pf=1 1396e07e > b01b3d42 (32)

irlap_change_speed(), setting speed to 115200
irport_change_speed_complete()
irlmp_state_active(), unknown event LM_LAP_DISCOVER_CONFIRM

   [pauses here for a while until timeing out]

   xid:cmd ffffffff < b01b3d42 s=6 s=0 (14)
   .....

Meanwhile, machine 2:

   xid:cmd b01b3d42 > ffffffff S=6 s=* surfpad hint=8404 [Computer IrCOMM] (24)

   snrm:cmd ca=fe pf=1 b01b3d42 > 1396e07e new_ca=fa
   snrm:cmd ca=fe pf=1 b01b3d42 > 1396e07e new_ca=fa
   snrm:cmd ca=fe pf=1 b01b3d42 > 1396e07e new_ca=fa
   snrm:cmd ca=fe pf=1 b01b3d42 > 1396e07e new_ca=fa

irlmp_state_setup_pend() WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT!

   xid:cmd ffffffff < b01b3d42 s=6 s=0 (14)
   .....

Any help or ideas will be appreciated. I've been grepping through all of
the irda source code, looking at old patches, reading [but not really
following that well] the irda specs, using oscilloscopes on the irda
tranceivers, and not making much headway at all...

Thanks,

Vince
