AFAIK no Linux drivers have been written for CIR modes of common IR
chipsets. The LIRC project (http://fsinfo.cs.uni-sb.de/~columbus/lirc/)
includes a driver that attempts to emulate CIR using SIR with moderate
success. It works quite well for some IR-ports but doesn't for others.
