thanks for the tip! something didn't work quite right though. the name
that i'm supplying under device name is not being propogated back to the
ias (if i cat /proc/net/irda/irias it still shows as "Linux"). how can
cause the ias to be reloaded or at least the device name to be actually
set in the ias?

i tried unloading all the irda modules, but when they're reloaded the
name just defaults back to "Linux".

any thoughts? thanks,
