Hi,
I just bought SuSE 6.1 (UK version) a couple of days ago and I
have a couple of problems configuring ISDN.
My ISDN card is an ELSA QS1000 PRO PCI.
Basically I did configure the ISDN stuff using YaST and the
replies to the START command were successful.
I have chosen to have a "manual" dialing as I do not want to
get connected without knowing it.
I can dial my ISP by doing: 'isdnctrl dial ippp0' and I can hang
up by doing 'isdnctrl hangup ippp0' (I have also checked that
the 60 seconds timeout works and that the connection is hanged
up automatically).
'ifconfig' gives info about the IP address assigned by my ISP.
I have 195.112.*.* (local, with * being whatever they want) and
the ISP (host) is 195.112.4.11
I can 'ping 195.112.4.11' and all packets are fine (no loss,
avg time is about 35ms). I can also 'ping 195.112.*.*' (no loss,
avg time is about 0.2ms which I guess is normal since it is the
local IP...)
The pbms are:
o I cannot ping any other IP address
'ping 192.168.0.1' does nothing
o 'route' once connected gives me nothing...
o If I launch Netscape then it does not pick up the connection
(actually it tries to look up www.suse.de and stays in that
state indefinitely like a big lemon!)
As a matter of fact the whole KDE desktop is stuck and my
only way out is Ctrl-Alt-Bckspc
note: Yesterday I did manage to get a PPP connection thru my
Diamond Supra Express 56e (ext) and I got Netscape working.
But it sounds like Netscape is dead because I cannot get
anything out of Netscape now, even with the modem PPP
connection.
My ISP is Primex (primex.co.uk) and phone number is 08450800090
It sounds to me that I am not too far but I cannot figure out
whether there is something wrong with ISDN/IP Addressing/Routing/...
or it is purely a Netscape pbm.
Any help much appreciated.
