Hi,
Ok. Got is working in 5 mins with all the info I received :-)
A. ippp0 config
192.168.0.99 for the client (my box)
195.112.4.11 for the default gateway
195.112.4.11 for the server (ISP)
B. /etc/resolv.conf
search primex.co.uk
nameserver 195.112.4.4
nameserver 195.112.4.7
Oliver, you were right on the nameserver IP addresses :-)
Beside buying a book on TCP/IP, I'll buy some new glasses as they
were written down as 195.x.x.x and I wrote 192.x.x.x ;-)
C. /etc/route.conf
195.112.4.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 ippp0
default 195.112.4.11
D. /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1 localhost
195.112.4.11 primex
192.168.0.99 wallaby.primex.co.uk wallaby
E. /etc/networks
loopback 127.0.0.0
primex 195.112.4.0
F./etc/host.conf
order hosts bind
multi on
o "you may have a wrong PCI bios" msg at boot time does not seem to be a pbm
o the card uses IRQ5 straight out from the box (same in windoze)
o May 12 21:21:23 wallaby ipppd[3914]: Kernel check for LZS failed
isn't that related to ISDN compression?
now, 'isdnctrl dial ippp0' followed by the lauch of Netscape works fine.
isdnmon indicates a connection at 64Kbps (1 channel only).
I can browse the www, access the news server and the mail server so it sounds
good too me.
Now, if I have to find out how to use MLPPP and get the 2nd channel working
to get 128Kbps connections.
Thanks again.
Ciao
Fred
