That's what I would love to see too ! And I agree with you that a patchset like this needs more review. Probably a lot more. Especially the fieldbus userspace interface. The question is: how can I generate interest? Other than starting an advertising campaign or spamming developers :) I guess this is one of the ways a patch can die: lack of interest by the wider community?
