The flag being checked should be -"W"stack-protector instead of
-"f"stack-protector. And the gcc manpage says that -Wstack-protector is
only active when -fstack-protector is active. So the end result should
look like
$(BUILD) -Werror -fstack-protector -Wstack-protector
