Do we really need this to be static?

It's at the top of my v3.12.. bloat-o-meter report:

function old new delta
static.zeroes - 4096 +4096

Gr{oetje,eeting}s,

In personal conversations with technical people, I call myself a hacker. But
when I'm talking to journalists I just say "programmer" or something like that.
