Bueno, de acuerdo a tu proyecto de virtualizacion depende el software a usar. Vmware ESX es muy bueno lo que ese no es gratis. Es perfecto si tienes dispositivos de storage, ya sean de fibra o iSCSI, tiene funcionalidades para explotar sus virtual switches y crear diferentes redes. Pero ellos tienen tambien la version server que es gratis pero no tiene virtual switches. Aqui te puedes descargar el ESX con un periodo de prueba de 60 dias: http://vmware.com/products/vi/ y aqui te puedes bajar la version server: http://vmware.com/products/server/ La version server necesita un sistema operativo base, ya sea linux o windows. http://vmware.com/products/server/
