The Thinkpad 755C hibernates to a file on the MSDOS filesystem on the
first partition, created by their application. This should be fairly
safe, as all the BIOS has to do is read the partition table, and find the
file in the FAT fs (all fairly simple). At least when I just had a Linux
partition, hibernating failed, rather than scribbling on the root FS.
The problem I have is that the machine reboots just after resuming
from hibernation. I can see the screen in the original state, then boom!
Given that my APM BIOS reports spurious 0x53 errors on simple things like
display blank, it wouldn't surprise me if it was resuming in real mode,
or something equally daft. I just have to live without hibernation.
