Greetings!
I intend to buy a laptop computer, and needless to
say, I want to use Linux with it!
I am a bit undecided about the Toshiba Satellite 4000CDS
and the Compaq Armada 1700 6233D. These machines have
similar characteristics, and at least here in Portugal
their price is equivalent.
Does anyone out there have any experience about Linux
on these machines? My primary concern is whether I will
be able to use XFree86. I have seen the "Linux on Laptops"
page, and apparently older models of both the Armada
and the Satellite are compatible.
So, can anyone please give me an advice about which machine
would be a better choice? I know the Compaq is better
looking, but the Toshiba does look more robust. I guess
that the decision will depend on the way I can use Linux
with them. (Someone told me I might have trouble using
the Sound System of the Compaq, is this true?)
Anyway, thanks in advance for any information!
