Dear experts. I have a PPP connection problem on my Thinkpad 560 laptop with Redhat 5.1. Actually, I am quite sure that my modem is using Com2(Dev/ttyS1) and it works fine under Windows95. But after I setup PPP configuration, I can not make it successful, even when I start "minicom", it said modem initialize OK. When I active PPP0 from network configuration utility, nothing happened, no Dial Tone can be heard.n Under this case, I use "ps" command in another session, I find these processes related to PPP task. They are: 853 1 S 0:00 sh /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifup-ppp daemon /etc/sysco 930 1 S 0:00 sh /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifup-ppp daemon /etc/sysco 1974 1 S 0:00 /usr/sbin/pppd -detach lock modem crtscts defaultroute /dev/ 1977 1 S 0:00 /usr/sbin/chat -f /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/chat-ppp0 So, the problem is PPP seems already run, but it was never successful.
