This problem is solved (for me) with kernel 2.2.0-pre7 and
pcmcia-3.0.7. He send a suspend and resume:

Jan 15 10:29:01 laptop cardmgr[102]: executing: './network suspend eth0'
Jan 15 10:29:01 laptop kernel: eth0: interrupt from stopped card
Jan 15 18:50:03 laptop apmd[156]: Battery: * * * (100% 0:01)
Jan 15 18:50:03 laptop apmd[156]: Resume after 08:21:02 (100% 0:01)
Jan 15 18:50:03 laptop cardmgr[102]: executing: './network resume eth0'
