Hi again, I did "man kerneld" and added the "keep" option to kerneld command in the "start" section of my /etc/rc.d/init.d/kerneld and my sound module now really works really fine. :-) Sorry about my bothering you guys. -jin ----------------------------------------------------------------- Jin Ko mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Network Engineer http://ghost.nuri.net/ International Backbone Group phone:+82-2-531-7924 Inet, Inc. -- a PSINet Company in Korea fax:+82-2-555-8127 ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Jin Ko <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: sound problem Date: Thu, 25 Feb 1999 01:14:52 +0900 (KST) Hi all, I'm using Linux 2.0.36 -- RedHat 5.2 on my Toshiba Portege 3010CT. Portege 3010 has Yamaha OPL3sa chipset and my /etc/conf.modules has following setting in it: --- alias sound opl3sa2 alias midi opl3 options opl3 io=0x388 options opl3sa2 io=0x370 mss_io=0x530 irq=5 dma=1,0 mpu_io=0x330 --- Sound works fine but the sound driver(module) so easily goes down. (1) Sometimes the module itself unloaded automatically without reason and repeat up & down by the period of a few minutes. And, (2) sometimes the module is loaded but can not play sound with leaving "Sound error: Couldn't allocate DMA buffer" error message in /var/log/message file. I can't understand this behavior of my sound module and more strange thing is that I feel that the Mozilla is causing this. :-< (just very very rough feeling) Does anybody know the reason and how I can resolve it? Thanx in advance! -jin ----------------------------------------------------------------- Jin Ko mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Network Engineer http://ghost.nuri.net/ International Backbone Group phone:+82-2-531-7924 Inet, Inc. -- a PSINet Company in Korea fax:+82-2-555-8127
