I don't know if this pertains, but I am able to get 1024 x 768 in 16-bit color
on an NEC laptop with the C&T 65550 and 2meg of vram by adding the line
"DacSpeed 80" to the "Device" section of XF86Config (think that's right, but I
don't have the laptop anymore).
