Dearest Linux-Laptop Community.
I'm having a problem getting my Token-Ring PCMCIA adapter to come up.
First, here's my configuration:
IBM ThinkPad Model 380Z
Adapter: 3Com TokenLink III (3c689)
Kernel: 2.0.36-0.7 (Red Hat 5.2 Distribution)
Card Services: 3.0.9
The 3c689 is listed as a supported adapter in the 3.0.9 version of pcmcia-cs, so
SOMEBODY has gotten it to work.
When the system boots, cardmgr sees the token-ring adapter in slot 1, and lists it as
IBM Token Ring. It also looks OK in /var/run/stab. There are no interrupt conflicts.
I've tried 9, 10 and 15.
In /var/log/messages, the "hwaddr" is displayed as "FFFFFFFFFFFF" and ifconfig hangs.
I tried to hard-code the adapter address in the network script, but that didn't seem
to help.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
