Hello,
I recently bought a new laptop and am having APM troubles. If you've
got a tip on how to fix it; great! Please let me know. Otherwise, if
you'd like to let me know what sort of debugging information you might
need, I'd be glad to collect it for you. Here are the problems:
* In Linux, when I use the standby (to memory) feature,
it goes into standby mode. When I'm done, I press a key to get
out of standby mode, and the system returns. However,
at this point, my keyboard is unusable. I can insert a PCMCIA
Ethernet card, telnet in, and remotely reboot it, but this is
obviously not of a lot of use in remote situations in which I
would want to use standby.
* Suspend either never works or puts the system into standby mode.
I'm investigating BIOS issues on this one. Incidentally,
when I use this and it goes into standby mode, there's the same
keyboard problem as above.
* apm --suspend and apm --standby have no effect on anything.
Here are the system specs:
alexanderwohl ~$ uname -a
Linux alexanderwohl 2.2.9 #2 Fri May 21 23:32:55 CDT 1999 i586 unknown
alexanderwohl ~$ apm -v
APM BIOS 1.2 (kernel driver 1.9)
AC on-line, battery status low: 86%
It's a Compaq Presario 1675.
Thanks,
John
