If it's like most of these other pointers, it's a PS/2. If SuSE 6.1
keeps going down, does it die on startup - Can't find mouse? To cure that, just
run the mouse round in a circle for a second immedeately after typing "startx"
and hitting return. Have you gpm running, and can that find it? With suse, use
yast for gpm settings, and sax for Xfree settings in the SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION
menu.
One other thing. People new to these are endlessy annoyed by the fact
that if you have a hand (or moisture) on the pad, it acts as if you are holding
the left button pressed down. There should be a socket on the back which will
take a real PS/2 mouse or keyboard (but not together ;-)
