Well, Nomad, I'm running an S3 Virge DX with 4 Megs; I son't get as much
of that stuff about circles, rectangles, and so forth. I've got all the
bells & whistles turned off, as the processor is a '586 - 133, (running
a little faster than 133 :) You can have any files you want - I'm also
running kde, but there's a LOT MORE than two lines in my xinit. Mind
you, I intend to rip this apart and upgrade very soon, so ask quick.

The next thing XFree talks to is the monitor - apparently that's not
answering. Have you tried with an external monitor? I don't think a
laptop screen is a 'Generic Monitor'. This is just a guess. This is the
entry from my Laptop's screen (A lousy Dual Scan; it doesn't write on
it - it more or less fades in)

Section "Monitor"
  Identifier "Primary-Monitor"
  VendorName "!!! LCD !!!"
  ModelName "SVGA 800X600@60HZ"
  HorizSync 31.5-40
  VertRefresh 58-62
